Today I had the itch to writeup some thoughts I had on what Sonos should really be doing in their roadmap. This seems to be a company like Google and Microsoft, already there, already doing something, but somehow caught up in its own inertia and not doing something really brilliant.
I agree that the Sonos Roam lets Sonos expand into the Wireless/ Bluetooth speaker market:
But, I think Sonos can still do better than go into an existing “safe” market segment. This is not exactly a high margin situation anyway. It would be far better to dig deeper into their existing base, than to get new customers from other market segments which are cheaper.
Why is Sonos doing boring stuff? There is so much out there which can excite their customers.
And here are some ideas for their roadmap, which is very similar to what I had suggested to Apple. If you have run out of ideas within product management, let us suggest what you can do.
