The Definitive Guide to AC Coupling Enphase Micros to the Sol Ark 15k

First, a quick note for those folks with a solar installation larger than 10k (like my neighbors): the state will allow you to install a regular AC Disconnect switch and pass the inspection.

BUT…

Note that if your solar installation exceeds 10k, you will need a Knife Blade Disconnect. This is a standard requirement everywhere.

This will piss off solar installers because they probably do more than 10k or lesser installs, and all of them would have gone through smoothly. But I can confirm that even in early 2023 (a year before they told our neighbors to do this), they had this requirement, as I saw a Reddit post earlier. So, be aware.

This has an actual air-gapped disconnect, which will only open if you switch it off. This makes sense if you can see whether the switch is ON or OFF from afar.

Now, back to my story.

I had three extra panels, and my Sol Ark had maxed out. We initially considered doing a small off-grid setup but would have used it less. Considering that, in the past many months, I observed that our production could be better in the mornings before 9:00 a.m., it made sense to put these three 400W panels to actual use.
