Ideas for tweaking your Sonos Setup

I have been listening to my Sonos speakers for the past year or so. It started with the Play 5, then I added some Sonos One’s and eventually two subs.

During this journey, I have learned how to improve the sound of the system.

Add a Sub for low frequencies

  • Guaranteed to improve the sound significantly

When you pair a Sub with any other Sonos speaker, it takes over bass reproduction, then the speaker will sound clearer.

This is the best (albeit expensive) way to improve the sound of your Play 5 and/ or Sonos One. I can vouch for the fact that this works, and is a scientifically sound way to improve the sound.

This works because the Play 5/ One can reproduce the sounds it can best reproduce, leaving the rest to the Sub.

Add a Sonos One for high frequencies

  • Not everyone will like this setup

Group a Sonos One with the Play 5 and in the equalizer for the One, turn down the bass all the way, so it will sound clearer.
