I wanted to write this small piece to help the thousands of people laid off during this crisis.

I know most of these people were working in restaurants, hotels and other small businesses. Even if those businesses were still open, they would still be exposed to the virus (most jobs you can find now will have similar or more risk)

I will give you some ideas to help:

Shop for others

There are plenty of well paid professionals who still have their jobs (so far) and work from home. They are pretty scared of venturing out. One thing I would do, if I am desperate is either to be an Instacart shopper, or try to offer my services shopping for others and delivering essential supplies.

Previously Uber drivers, could do this as well.

This could be:

  • Groceries
  • Lunch (not all bachelors know how to cook)
  • Medicines
  • Reach out to grocery stores and restaurants asking to help deliver to customers. Some restaurants are still running their kitchens.

Right now, note that Instacart is struggling to get shoppers to fulfill all orders.
