The definitive prepaid plan to make international calls

Not a lot of people have this problem. Because even twenty years ago, when I was in college, people used to video call each other using Skype from PCs.

Making free calls has only gotten easier over time. You can either Facetime or WhatsApp call when you feel like it. Even video calls work fine over mobile networks in 2024.

But, sometimes you encounter some people who still don’t know how to use a smartphone. In a world where even people who can’t read and write English can use a smartphone (local language support), it is extremely frustrating to find someone with a master's degree who can’t/ won’t use it.

English is not the problem; forget smartphones, they have not even used a computer.

Yeah. That’s a problem by itself — how they got there. Maybe someday I will write about it.

My problem was that after trying everything I could to WhatsApp when it finally stopped working, I had to figure out a way to make an international call without breaking the bank.

Call rates are not that bad directly from a mobile phone these days, but I want control over the cost — which means prepaid.

Google search was useless. Even Perplexity Pro took me nowhere.
