My friend was sick, and he knew that long haul, economy flights made his condition worse. Because business class was fully booked, he had no choice but to get an upper class ticket at the best price he could find.

#1 It is totally worthless to get an upper class ticket in 2022, unless you really, really want a lie flat bed experience.

This was a good airline. And that was from a former pilot, who is now retired. Hmm… Imagine the Deltas and the Air France’s!

If you have economy travelers with you, you can take them along and skip the lines when you checkin as well as during boarding. That does help.

Your +1 can join you in the first class lounge. If you have kids, then no such luck if they are in business class/ economy. I would not get first class for the lounge. You are not going to spend much time there.

The food portions are very small. My friend does not eat during flights, but his family was upgraded to business class for the last leg of the flight — his kid was hungry even after his business class main course + his Dad’s upper class main course because of the super small portion sizes.

#2 Don’t do it for the food.
