Why my iMac 17,1 (Late 2015) was rebooting with kernel panic for the past few months

I know many people have been searching for the solution to this problem. My iMac would reboot whenever it got into a sleep state.

Here is what fixed it for me:

Kernel Panic #1

Uninstall your virus scanner. In my case, it was Norton. That got me into kernel panic #2 which was a different issue.

Kernel Panic #2

I disconnected the two SSDs which were connected to my iMac via its Thunderbolt 2 port.

That solved the problem!

It’s crazy I thought my RAM or internal disks had gone bad. But, that was not the case 😊
